Best Eye Masks for Sleeping in India (2026)
Updated 4 September 2026 Prices checked 4 September 2026
Most eye masks fail in the same place. Light slips in through the gap beside your nose, and no amount of thick black cloth closes it.

The short answer
Frido 3D Eye Mask
It is the best built mask here. It is also the only one whose spec table declares a nose seal.
But the sensible buy is the INSIME 3D Memory Foam Sleeping Mask at ₹349. It scores within a rounding error of the Frido, on a far stronger review record.
After that it depends on what stops you sleeping:
- You sleep without AC: WiseLife Mulberry Silk, real silk at 30 g.
- You want cotton, not foam: Store2508, the cleanest flat-mask record here.
- You have a large head: Tobfit, the only mask with a stated fit range.
- You want to spend as little as possible: Shoppax, at ₹115.
Before you buy
Check the band length, not the star rating
A mask that will not go round your head is unusable, however good it is. One popular mask here has a band of about 27 cm, and adult men keep leaving one-star reviews saying so. Look for a stated band or fit range, and treat silence as a risk.
So this page ranks on the things that actually decide whether a mask works. The shape at the nose. The strap, and how long it is. What the fabric does to your face in an Indian summer.
Heat is the second problem, and it is the one global reviews miss. Foam traps it. Owners here say plainly that a foam mask needs AC to be wearable in May.
Then we read what verified Indian buyers report months later. That is where the strap failures and the fraying show up, long after the star rating settled.
A mask is the cheapest sleep fix you can buy. The bed under you matters more, and we rank that in our best mattresses guide. The pillow is in our microfiber pillow roundup.
◆Put the mask on when you get into bed. Melatonin starts rising before you fall asleep, and light delays it.
✳The cups on a 3D mask are deep enough to blink inside. That is the whole point of the shape.

●Unfixed dye moves when it gets damp. Wash a new dark mask once before you sleep in it.

Frido 3D Eye Mask
Frido has built the most refined mask in this field. Buy it if you want the best blackout and can accept a durability risk.
- Nose seal: the only mask here whose spec table names one, and buyers confirm it.
- Weight: 36 g, the lightest 3D mask in this set.
- Strap: a real adjustable buckle, not a pull-on elastic.
- Cups: deep enough to open your eyes inside, with no pressure on the lids.
- Shell: a cotton blend, which breathes better than bare polyester.
Now the catch. Four separate buyers report threads fraying from the edges within two months. One says the black dye still ran after several washes. At ₹999 that is a real risk, and the INSIME below costs a third as much.

What’s good
- Lightest 3D mask here at 36 g, and you notice that over a full night
- The only spec table here that declares a nose seal, and buyers say it works
- A real adjustable buckle, so it fits a wide range of head sizes
- Foam cups hold clear of the eyelids, so you can open your eyes inside
- Cotton-blend shell breathes better than the bare polyester 3D masks
- Made by an identifiable Indian company with published support contacts
What isn’t
- Threads fray from the edges within about two months, in four separate reports
- The black dye bleeds, and one buyer says it still ran after several washes
- Nearly three times the price of the INSIME, which scores within 0.1 of it
- Several buyers find it bulky, and one says it works loose overnight

INSIME 3D Memory Foam Sleeping Mask
The INSIME does what the expensive 3D masks do, for ₹349. It also has the strongest evidence behind it of anything here.
- Record: 100 verified India reviews averaging 4.60, with 8% at one or two stars.
- Nose flap: buyers describe it sealing out the light, over and over.
- Cups: deep enough that you can open your eyes inside the mask.
- Price: a third of the Frido, for a score within 0.1 of it.
- Velocity: 700+ sold a month, so the record keeps refreshing.
Two caveats, and both are design consequences rather than faults. Memory foam traps heat, so buyers without AC say they cannot wear it in summer. And the thick contour presses into the face if you sleep on your side.

What’s good
- The strongest review record here: 100 verified India reviews averaging 4.60
- Only 8% of those recent reviews sit at one or two stars
- Buyers repeatedly confirm the nose flap seals the light out
- Deep pockets let you open your eyes, with no pressure on lids or lashes
- A third of the Frido's price, for a score within 0.1 of it
- Selling at 700+ a month, so the review base keeps refreshing
What isn’t
- Runs hot without AC; one buyer says you could not wear it in summer
- Poor for side sleepers, per three separate reviews about the thick contour
- A few buyers find the raised nose piece restrictive to breathe against
- The spec table records a pull-on elastic, so the fit is not tunable

Store2508 Cotton Sleep Mask Blackout
If a foam mask sounds too hot for an Indian summer, this is the alternative worth paying for. It is cotton, and it still seals at the nose.
- Record: 9% at one or two stars across 78 verified India reviews.
- Fabric: 95% organic cotton over cotton padding, so it breathes.
- Nose wing: a sewn gusset that fills the gap a flat mask leaves.
- Band: wide enough to cover the ears, which owners single out.
- Life: several owners report three to five years of use.
Three catches. It is the priciest flat mask here. The velcro sits at the back of the head, which back sleepers dislike. And the listing moves slowly, so the newest verified review is already months old.

VeeDee 3D Sleep Mask
On paper this is a Frido-class design for ₹600 less. The problem is that almost nobody has owned one yet.
- Contour: a genuine 3D cup confirmed in the spec table, with a nose bridge.
- Weight: 45 g on an adjustable elastic strap.
- Cups: deep enough to blink inside, per the buyers there are.
- Care: hand-washable, and the spec table says so.
- Seller: an identifiable Mumbai company with a published care number.
Now the evidence. Ten verified India reviews exist, all inside a 3.5-month window after a May 2026 launch. Several read like listing copy. We scored the design and left the reliability unproven. Buy it only if you are happy to be an early adopter.

- A genuine 3D contour confirmed in the spec table, with a nose bridge
- 45 g on an adjustable elastic strap, so it fits most head sizes
- Deep cups let you blink freely, and buyers confirm it
- Hand-washable, stated in the spec table, which is unusual here
- ₹600 cheaper than the Frido for a comparable design
- Sold by an identifiable Mumbai company with a published care number
What isn’t
- Only 10 verified India reviews exist, all from a 3.5-month launch window
- Several of those reviews read like listing copy rather than buyer prose
- The 4.9-star headline rests on just 18 ratings

Tobfit Blackout Sleep Mask
Tobfit solves a real problem. It is the only mask here with a stated fit range wide enough for a large head.
- Fit: 18.5 to 28 inches, the widest range published in this set.
- Build: Lycra stretch, so there is no lump at the back of the head.
- Contour: a genuine 3D cup, confirmed in the spec table.
- Record: no negative verified India review exists at all.
Then the reservations. Five verified reviews is not a track record, and most of the 4.6-star headline comes from ratings we exclude. The listed 10 g weight is not credible for a foam mask. And the memory foam is named only in the marketing bullets.

- The one detailed review argues the case for paying more, and argues it well
What isn’t

- The listed 10 g weight is not credible for a foam mask; the Frido is 36 g
- Memory foam appears only in the bullets, never in the spec table
- A fixed stretch strap, so the fabric sets the fit rather than you

Lyrovo 3D Contoured Eye Mask
At ₹299 this is the least expensive genuine 3D mask in the set. Buyers confirm it blocks light with no gaps.
- Contour: a spec-confirmed 3D cup at the lowest price here.
- Blackout: owners say there are no gaps, and call it a total blackout.
- Strap: adjustable elastic, which one buyer prefers for not tangling hair.
- Drying: a monsoon-season owner says it dries within hours.
Two things hold it back, and both are avoidable. At 90 g it is the heaviest mask here, and its plastic buckle digs into the ear. It also ships ear plugs the listing never mentions, so buyers who get none think the order is short. Four one-star reviews are about that alone.

WiseLife Natural Mulberry Silk Eye Mask
Choose this if heat ruins your sleep rather than light. Real mulberry silk at 30 g stays cooler than any foam mask here.
- Record: the best census in this field, at 4.67 with 5% at one or two stars.
- Fabric: genuine mulberry silk, which breathes and does not drag on lashes.
- Weight: 30 g, and it folds into the pouch it ships with.
- Care: hand-washable, so it stays clean through hot weather.
Be clear about the trade. It is flat with no nose treatment, so light gets in at the nose. The 20 × 8 cm panel is small, and larger faces find it tight. Two buyers dispute that it is silk at all. Pair it with a dark room; it will not make one.

Shoppax 100% Cotton Eye Mask
For ₹115 this is a genuinely reasonable cotton mask. Just buy it knowing what it is.
- Price: the cheapest mask here by a wide margin.
- Fabric: 100% cotton and hand-washable, so it breathes properly.
- Nose wing: a gusset with an elastic-filled bottom edge, rare this cheap.
- Record: 2,060 ratings and 300+ sales a month.
- Size: a large panel, which suits buyers who find small masks tight.
The gaps are real. Light still enters at the nose for several buyers, gusset or not. The panel runs large and sits oddly on smaller faces. And the strap does not adjust, whatever the title says. If you want darkness rather than a comfortable cover, buy the Lyrovo instead.

Ross has made a very soft mask. Four fabric layers with a modal inner face, and buyers love how it feels.

Boldfit's silk mask is genuinely nice at 15 g, and the buckle is real. Buyers whose heads fit it are consistently happy.

The velvet is soft, and the wide wrap that covers the ears is a genuine difference. Two things sink it anyway.

So the 4.4-star headline is not trustworthy, and we scored it on the critical reviews. It is also thick and heavy on the face. And the nose cut-out does not work: open the nose and light gets in, cover it and the cut-out is pointless.

What to look for in eye masks
6 things worth knowing before you spend anything.
The nose gap is the whole game
Almost every complaint about light leaking points to one place. The triangular gap either side of the bridge of your nose.
A flat mask lies across your face like a strip of cloth. It bridges over that gap instead of sealing into it. That is why a ₹999 four-layer flat mask can leak while a ₹299 contoured one does not.
So ignore the 100% blackout text in the title. Almost every listing claims it. Look at the photographs instead, for one of three things:
- A moulded cup that sits around the eye sockets.
- A nose wing: a fabric gusset sewn into the bottom edge.
- A bendable wire you pinch to the shape of your nose.
If you cannot see any of those, assume light will get in.
Contoured or flat? Answer two questions first
Contoured masks block light far better. The moulded cups also let you open your eyes inside, which most people prefer to cloth on their lids.
But they are thicker, and thickness costs you twice:
- Side sleeping: the raised edge presses into your face on the pillow.
- Heat: foam traps it, which is a real problem without AC.
So ask yourself two questions. Do you sleep on your side? Do you sleep without AC for most of the year?
Two noes and you should buy contoured. Two yeses and you want light cotton or silk, and you accept that a little light gets in.
The same heat trade-off decides the bed under you. We weigh it in our memory foam mattress roundup.
Measure your head before you buy
Strap length is the most under-rated spec in this category. It generates more one-star reviews than any material fault.
One popular ₹199 mask has a band of roughly 27 cm. Review after review from adult men reports that it simply will not go round.
Masks sold as Large, or with a stated fit range, are the safe choice for a bigger head. One here lists 18.5 to 28 inches.
Where a listing gives a band or panel dimension, use it. Where it does not, treat that silence as a risk.
Velcro is the part that fails first
The most common durability failure in this research was not the fabric or the foam. It was the closure.
Velcro loses its grip. The hook side wears down, and after a month or two the mask no longer holds. It comes off during the night, which is the one thing a sleep mask must not do. We saw this reported on masks from two different brands.
- Adjustable buckle: mechanically simple, and it does not degrade the same way.
- Stretch elastic: nothing to fail, but no adjustment either.
- Velcro: adjusts well, then stops working.
Choosing between two similar masks? The closure is a good tiebreaker.
“Silk” on an Indian eye mask listing often is not silk
Below about ₹350, a mask described as silk is very often polyester satin or polyester velour. That is the shiny fabric used on travel neck pillows.
Here is what we found on real listings:
- Silk listed on a mask the brand itself calls Super Soft.
- Satin, Silk as a single value. Satin is a weave and silk is a fibre, so naming both identifies nothing.
- Silk listed on a product sold as velvet.
Real mulberry silk usually comes with a momme count, typically 19 to 22. Synthetic satin is not worthless. It is smooth, cheap and perfectly usable. Just do not pay a silk premium for it, and do not expect it to keep you cool.
If you cannot wash it, do not buy it
You wear this against your eyes and cheeks for eight hours a night. In Indian heat, you will sweat into it.
Two otherwise reasonable masks we looked at specify dry clean only. In practice that means they will never be cleaned at all.
Look for hand-washable or machine-washable in the care row. Then prefer natural fibres. Cotton, modal and real silk tolerate washing and dry quickly.
A washable ₹199 mask you can keep clean beats a ₹599 one you cannot.
How we scored these eye masks
Scores come from published listing data, verified Amazon.in customer reviews read across the recent and critical streams, and analysis of published specifications. Owner Experience is the only criterion that reads those reviews — the other three are scored from the declared design and materials alone, so one repeated complaint can never be counted against a mask three times. Where a listing has few verified India reviews, its Owner Experience score is pulled toward the field average, which is why a flawless five-review mask does not outrank a well-evidenced one.
Light Blocking 30% Nose-bridge sealing above all else — a moulded contoured cup ranks above a sewn nose-wing gusset or a bendable wire, and a flat mask with no nose treatment ranks last whatever it costs. Contour depth counts twice, because the depth that lets the eyes open is what seals the cheekbone edge. A '100% blackout' claim in the title is treated as unverified until owners corroborate it
Comfort & Fit 25% Whether it stays on and stays comfortable for a full night. Strap type (adjustable buckle or slider above wide velcro above fixed elastic), stated band length and fit range, mask weight in grams, and where the fastener sits — a buckle or velcro hump at the back of the head is what a back sleeper lies on
Owner Experience 25% What verified Amazon.in owners report across the recent and critical review streams: whether it blocks light in practice, whether the strap survives, whether the fabric holds up to washing, and whether the stated material is honest. A listing with few verified owners is pulled toward the field average rather than taken at face value
Material & Breathability 20% Weighted for heat, not for feel. Real mulberry silk and cotton or modal rank above satin-finish polyester, which ranks above memory foam or sponge in a synthetic shell, with thick multi-layer velvet last. Momme count where a silk claim is made, and whether the mask can be washed at all
Frequently Asked Questions
Do eye masks actually help you sleep, or is it a placebo?
There is a real mechanism behind it. Light reaching the eye holds back melatonin, the hormone that tells your body it is night.
The receptors are sensitive. Ordinary room light, or a streetlamp through thin curtains, is enough to matter. Block that light and melatonin rises normally.
This is why buyers in hostels, in shared rooms and on night shifts are the most enthusiastic reviewers of these products. Their light exposure was genuinely abnormal to begin with.
Why does light still get in around my nose?
Because a flat mask physically cannot close that gap. Your nose bridge makes a triangular void either side, and flat fabric bridges over it.
The fix is structural, not material. You need either a moulded 3D cup that wraps down around the nose, or a sewn fabric nose wing that fills the gap.
A thicker or darker flat mask will not help. If light at the nose is your problem, a contoured mask is the only reliable answer.
Will a memory foam mask be too hot for an Indian summer?
Very possibly. This is the most consistent India-specific complaint in the category.
Foam is an insulator. It holds the heat your face gives off. Buyers of contoured foam masks repeatedly report sweating, and one says plainly that without AC you could not wear it in summer.
If you sleep in an AC room the issue mostly goes away. If you do not, a cotton or real-silk mask will be far more comfortable for most of the year. You trade some light blocking for that.
Is a silk eye mask worth paying extra for?
It is, but for breathability rather than luxury. Silk breathes better than polyester, and its low friction means it does not drag on the skin around your eyes.
In Indian conditions the cooling matters more than the smoothness.
The catch is that most masks sold as silk below about ₹350 are polyester satin. So you can pay the premium without getting the property. Look for a stated momme count, and be sceptical of an unlabelled silk claim.
Can I wash an eye mask, and how often?
Yes, and you should. Roughly weekly, and more often in hot weather. It collects sweat, facial oil and any skincare you put on at night.
Most fabric masks take a gentle hand wash in cool water with mild detergent. Natural fibres dry within a few hours.
Contoured foam masks need more care. Wash the fabric surface by hand and let the foam dry fully before you use it. Trapped moisture is the last thing you want against your eyes. Treat a Dry Clean Only label as a reason to buy something else.
Which type is best if I sleep on my side?
A thin, flexible mask in cotton or silk, rather than a thick contoured one.
The raised edge of a 3D cup presses into your face when your head is on a pillow. That drew complaints against every contoured mask here.
The trade-off is real, because thin flat masks are the worst light blockers. If you sleep on your side and still need darkness, look for the shallowest contour you can find. A stretch-fabric design that flexes beats a rigid moulded one.
Does the strap type really matter that much?
More than most buyers expect. It decides whether the mask fits you at all, whether it stays on all night, and how long it lasts.
- Velcro: the most common failure point. The hooks wear down and stop gripping, often within a month or two.
- Fixed elastic: nothing to fail, but if the band is short it is simply unusable.
- Adjustable buckle: the most durable and the most accommodating.
Also think about where the fastener sits. A bulky buckle or velcro hump at the back of the head is uncomfortable if you sleep on your back.
Why do some masks arrive with ear plugs nobody mentioned?
Some sellers bundle accessories without updating the listing text, and it causes real confusion.
One mask here ships ear plugs its listing never mentions. Several buyers left one-star reviews believing part of their order was missing.
If your mask arrives with unexpected extras, that is usually why. And if a listing does not promise ear plugs or a pouch, do not count on getting them.
How do we evaluate these eye masks?
We do not wear the masks we write about. Nothing on this page is our own measurement.
We read the published specifications first. Then we read the verified Amazon.in reviews from Indian buyers, across the recent and critical streams. Then we say which claim came from where.
Only one of our four criteria reads those reviews. The other three are scored on the declared design and materials, so one repeated complaint is never counted three times. Where a listing has few verified owners, its owner score is pulled toward the field average. The full method is on our methodology page.
The verdict on eye masks
Buy on the shape at the nose first. It is the one thing that decides whether the mask does its job, and it is the thing the titles never tell you.
Then decide about heat. A foam contour is the darkest option and the warmest one. Cotton and real silk are cooler and let some light in. That trade is the whole category, and no brand escapes it.
Where another mask suits you better than the Frido:
- You want the sensible buy: INSIME, for a third of the price.
- You sleep without AC: WiseLife Mulberry Silk.
- You want cotton, not foam: Store2508.
- Your head is large: Tobfit, the only one with a stated fit range.
- You want to spend as little as possible: Shoppax, at ₹115.
A mask fixes light. If what wakes you is the bed, that is a different purchase, and we rank it in our best mattresses guide. The pillow under your head is in our microfiber pillow roundup.

The rest of what we have written that bears on this decision.
