What the quiz asks, and why
Every question exists because it changes the answer. Here is what each one is used for — for the buying advice behind them, read the mattress buying guide.
- What size bed is it for? A hard filter, not a preference — a mattress that isn't made in your size can't be a match, so this removes most of the list before anything is scored.
- And the exact dimensions? Within a size class each width × length is a separate product with its own price, so this pins the exact variant to link you to.
- Who will sleep on it? Decides which questions you are asked at all. A guest-room mattress skips the personal questions entirely; a shared bed unlocks the partner-disturbance question.
- Roughly how much do you weigh? The single most-skipped factor in mattress buying. The same mattress reads firmer to a lighter sleeper and softer to a heavier one, so weight shifts how every firmness rating is scored.
- How do you sleep most of the night? The heaviest-weighted answer in the quiz, because the support your spine needs changes completely between side, back and stomach sleeping.
- How firm do you like your bed? Your stated preference, scored against each mattress's rated firmness. Answer "not sure" and the quiz diagnoses it from your current bed instead.
- How does your current mattress feel? Only appears if you said you weren't sure. What's wrong with your current mattress is a more reliable signal than a number on a scale.
- Do you deal with back pain? Shifts weight toward zoned support and orthopedic-grade cores rather than any one material.
- Do your partner's movements wake you? Only appears if two people share the bed. Motion isolation is a construction question, so this favours certain builds over others.
- Want a particular material in it? Treated as a preference, not a filter — stating one boosts matching mattresses without hiding everything else.
- Do you sleep hot? Weighted toward breathable construction. It matters more in an unconditioned Indian bedroom than most spec sheets suggest.
Two things it deliberately never asks: your budget, and how thick you want the mattress. Both are answers rather than questions — thickness follows from your weight and sleeping position, so the results screen tells you which variant to pick, and price is applied as a filter after ranking rather than a constraint before it. Sizing is the one thing worth settling before you start; the Indian mattress size chart has every width and length with the frames they fit.
How the match score works
Size is a hard filter: anything not made in your size is out before scoring begins. Everything after that is weighted rather than eliminating — your sleeping position counts for the most, then body weight and firmness, then back pain, partner disturbance, material preference and temperature.
Each remaining mattress is scored on how well its recorded attributes answer each of your answers, and the total is shown as a match percentage so you can see how close the second and third picks are rather than just being handed a winner. Questions you skip are dropped from the calculation entirely rather than being guessed at, so skipping costs you precision, not accuracy.
The attributes themselves come from specifications, certifications and the verified-owner review record on Amazon.in — we do not physically test mattresses, and the methodology page sets out exactly what we do and don’t check.
Questions about the finder
Do I have to give my email or phone number?
No. The finder asks for no contact details of any kind, and nothing is gated — your matches appear the moment you answer the last question. This is worth stating plainly because most mattress "finders" in India are run by mattress brands themselves, where the quiz is really a lead-capture form: you answer ten questions, then hit a wall asking for your email or phone number before the results, and a sales call follows. There is no wall here, and no call, because we never collect anything to call you with.
Do my answers get sent anywhere?
The scoring runs entirely in your browser — your answers are never submitted to a server, and there is no account, login or saved profile. We do record anonymous usage analytics through Google Analytics, which tells us in aggregate which options people pick and where they drop off, so we can fix confusing questions. That data contains no personal or contact information, because none is ever asked for.
Is the mattress finder free?
Yes, completely, with no sign-up. It takes about 90 seconds and you can close it or restart it at any point.
How do you make money, and does it change my results?
If you buy through one of our Amazon.in links we earn an affiliate commission at no extra cost to you. It does not change your ranking: your matches are computed from your answers against fixed attributes recorded for each mattress, and commission rate is not one of the inputs. No brand pays for placement or can buy its way into your results.
How many mattresses does it choose from?
58 models from 24 brands sold on Amazon.in, from ₹3,929 to ₹80,990, covering memory foam, natural latex, gel grid, pocket spring, coir, HR foam and hybrids. The dataset was last refreshed on 12 September 2026.
Why doesn't it ask my budget?
Because asking for a budget up front quietly hides mattresses that fit you well and sit a few hundred rupees over the line you picked. Matches are ranked purely on fit, and the results screen has a price filter you can apply afterwards — which also flags anything shown above your cap rather than silently dropping it.
Can I change an answer without starting over?
Yes. Every answer appears as an editable chip on the results screen. Changing one re-ranks your matches immediately, and only re-asks a follow-up question if your new answer requires it — switching size, for example, re-asks the exact dimensions.
You haven't slept on these mattresses — why trust the picks?
We don't hands-on test mattresses and we don't claim to. Each model is evaluated from its specifications, certifications and the verified-owner review record on Amazon.in, then scored the same way as every other model so the comparison is consistent. What the finder adds is the matching: taking your size, weight, sleeping position and needs and checking them against those recorded attributes, which is tedious to do by hand across dozens of listings.
